Turkish cotton, linen or bamboo?

Each fabric behaves in its own way. The exact composition of every piece is read from its product page.

Turkish cotton

Woven from longer fibres, Turkish cotton strikes the balance between absorbency and softness. It becomes softer, fluffier and more absorbent with every wash. Sand does not stick to it and it dries quickly.

Care · Cold or lukewarm water, mild soap, no bleach or fabric softener.

Textures

Waffle and combed cotton

Waffle weaving creates a honeycomb texture, as on the WAFFLE MINI towel. Combed cotton, cleared of its shortest fibres before weaving, stays smooth on the skin: you will find it in the EMMA kimono and the kids' ponchos.

Care · Cold or lukewarm water, mild soap, no bleach or fabric softener.

Care

Four habits to keep it beautiful

A Balmy is made to be used. It asks for little: cold or lukewarm water, mild soap and an eye on its fringe.

  1. Before washing

Check the fringe and tighten the knots if needed: everyday use can loosen them.

  2. Washing

    Turkish cotton

Cold or lukewarm water, mild soap, no bleach or fabric softener: that is how it keeps its qualities best.

  3. Washing

    Bamboo

Cold or lukewarm water, mild soap, no bleach.

  4. Drying

A delicate cycle and low-heat drying protect the cotton and the fringe. Bamboo can be tumble dried on low if needed.

Fringe

A fringe came undone?

Nothing serious: Turkish towels existed long before washing machines. A fringe can be fixed in four steps.

  1. Split the threads into two equal parts.
  2. Twist each part counterclockwise.
  3. Twist both parts together clockwise.
  4. Tie a tight knot at the end.

Questions

Your care questions

Short answers; the details are above.

Does sand stick to a Balmy towel?

No: sand does not stick to the Turkish cotton of our towels. A quick shake is enough.

Can I put my towel in the dryer?

Yes, on low heat and a delicate cycle: it protects the cotton and the fringe. Bamboo pieces can also be tumble dried on low if needed.

Should I use fabric softener?

No. Turkish cotton keeps its qualities best when washed without fabric softener or bleach.

Will my towel shrink?

Our towels are not prewashed, so slight shrinkage is possible after the first wash.

Why does it get softer over time?

Turkish cotton becomes softer, fluffier and more absorbent with every wash. Use it as much as you like.

A fringe came undone, what should I do?

Twist it and knot it again in four steps: see the illustrated guide.
